Descifrando «To be all downhill»
Esta expresión tiene truco: dependiendo del contexto, puede significar que todo será más fácil o que las cosas van de mal en peor. Aprende a usarla correctamente.
Connotación Positiva
Se usa cuando lo más difícil ya ha pasado y el camino que queda es sencillo de recorrer. Equivale a «ser pan comido» o «ir sobre ruedas».
- «If I can just get through the training period, it’ll be all downhill from here.»
- «Well, I guess it’s all downhill from here.»
- «Finally we are out of the forest, now it’s all downhill from here.»
Connotación Negativa
Se refiere a un declive, cuando algo pierde calidad o comienza a fallar. Equivale a «ir cuesta abajo» o «ir de mal en peor».
- «Happy 60th birthday! I’m afraid it’s all downhill from here!»
- «The job went well at first, but then I got sick and it’s been downhill ever since.»
- «After the easy introduction of the first chapter it’s all downhill.»
