Aunque las collocations con come no suelen usarse tanto como con otros verbos, ya sabéis que siempre es bueno ampliar el vocabulario de cualquier forma, y usando colocaciones hace que subas de nivel, pero esto supongo que ya lo sabéis, así que menos teoría y más práctica 😉
- Come closer – Acercarse
Ejemplo: If you come closer to the bridge, I could jump from here.
- Come as a surprise – Pillar a alguien por sorpresa, llegar inesperadamente
Ejemplo: The letter offering me a scholarship came as a total surprise.
- Come first – Llegar el primero / Ser lo primero – First come, first served (por orden de llegada)
Ejemplo: Caring for his children comes first; his job is second priority.
- Come after – Llegar después de… / Estar después de…
Ejemplo: Which king came after Edward?
- Come prepared – Venir preparado
Ejemplo: I come prepared for the marathon.
- Come right back – Volver enseguida
Ejemplo: Come right back, because we need to take the metro.
- Come to a standstill – Detenerse
Ejemplo: We must be critical of the fact that consolidation efforts have come to a standstill in numerous countries.
- Come to terms with – Llegar a un acuerdo, reconciliarse
Ejemplo: There is a continuing need to come to terms with the region’s history.
- Come under fire / under criticism – Convertirse en el blanco de las críticas
Ejemplo: Turkish authorities have recently come under fire for censoring social networks.
